EB DUTCH ELBRUS - 2003 EXPEDITION

In summer of 2003 we served an 8-pax Dutch group that was organized by Edward Bekker Ski & Alpinisme. Mrs. Marina Ershova worked with the group as a mountain guide of Ersh Travels; Mr. Andrey (Bukh) Ershov was her guide-assistant. In addition, our Moscow manager Miss Maria Sdobnikova took part in this expedition.

The group arrived in the Baksan Valley on July 26 and after acclimatization on Mt. Cheget and in the Kogutay Valley they tried to climb Mt. Elbrus. Before the climb they did acclimatization walks to the ruins of the Priyut of 11 Hut and to the Pastukhov Rocks and pitched Camp 4500. On August 03 seven Dutch climbers with two Russian guides and Miss Maria Sdobnikova successfully reached the western summit of Mt. Elbrus (5642 m) - the highest top of Europe. Two of them - Mr. Rene Bergsma and Mr. Dirk Michiels - continued the climb and summited the eastern top of Mt. Elbrus (5621 m) too!
