DUTCH ELBRUS - 2008 SKI TOUR

At the end of April - the beginning of May a group of four Dutch alpine skiers - Jan-Willem van de Velde, Alexander Fokker, Jurriaan Nienaber and Emilie Fokker - visited the Elbrus area in the Caucasus for ski-touring and a ski ascent of Mt. Elbrus. The weather was very bad and they did two unsuccessful attempts to climb Mt. Elbrus. After a short rest at the Wolfram Hotel they did the third attempt and all team members with their Russian guide Viktor Ershov summited Mount Elbrus on May 3.
