HO SOUTH AFRICAN ELBRUS NORTH - 2011 EXPEDITION

Three South African guys - Mr. Heinrich Bernard Olivier, Mr. Werner Bouwer and Mr. Dirk-Heine Jansen van Rensburg - wanted to have an adventure trip in Russia and to climb Mount Elbrus. We helped them to organize such trip and at the second half of August they arrived in Moscow and flew to the Caucasus. In the Caucasus they were served by our mountain guide Mr. Viktor Ershov.

Two other persons - Mr. Pieter de Ruiter from the Netherlands and Mrs. Katarzyna Dorota Woods from Poland with their Russian guide Mr. Sergey Onufrienko joined this group in the Caucasus. But later they decided not to climb Mt. Elbrus and to do only some treks there.

The South side of Elbrus was closed this summer and as our other groups they climbed Elbrus from the North. After acclimatization treks in the area of Base Camp on the Emmanuel Glade (~ 2500 m) and an acclimatization ascent to the Lenz Rocks (~ 4800 m) they tried to reach the top of Mt. Elbrus. They started from the camp on 3800 m at 4:00 and after a very long climbing route Heinrich, Werner, Dirk-Heine and their guide Viktor Ershov successfully reached the Western Summit of Mt. Elbrus (5642 m) at 12:30 on August 23.

Werner Bouwer:
Hy Andrey,
I just wanted to say again: thank you to yourself, Viktor and your wife for an amazing trip. We had had an incredible time, and Ersh Travels is one of the most professional companies that I have come across. Thank you so much for the personal details and effort. Without your guys our trip to Elbrus would not have been the same. Hopefully we will see you in the not too distant future!

Heinrich Olivier:
Andrey / Viktor,
I would just like to echo Werner's sentiments and thank you for an amazing experience. From our first dealings via email until our departure from Moscow everything was handled in an utter professional manner and your personal involvement in all the details was greatly appreciated. We felt safe every step of the way and I cannot give enough praise and gratitude to everyone along the way. Thank you to Sergey, Helena (the food was amazing and we loved the special touches), Yuri and Marina. Special thanks to yourself for all the organisation and administration and ferrying us around in Moscow and going that extra mile at some inhuman hours.
To Viktor, thanks for keeping us safe on the mountain and sharing 'her' with us.
I would love to come back and will definitely recommend Ersh Travels to anyone wishing to go to your amazing country.
