TIEN-SHAN

Tien-Shan, meaning the Celestial Mountains, is a vast mountain region in Central Asia. Eight hundred kilometres wide and 2800 km long, this mountain system extends from Uzbekistan to Mongolia and includes many peaks over 5000 m. More than 30 summits of the Tien-Shan Mountains are close to or over 6000 m. The highest of them including Khan-Tengri (6995 m) and Pobeda (7439 m) peaks are concentrated in a remote cluster, located on the borders of Kyrgyzstan, China and Kazakhstan.
